Erratic rev counter

Post by blake »

Running a V3 microsquirt system on my V6 Duratec, everything is fine and runs very well however I have only one nagging issue and that is the rev counter, I am using the original Ford Mondeo V6 rev counter and all was well at first except when any electrical functions was used the rev counter would give a quick dip to 0 then back up other than that it would work fine, however the more I use the car the fault is getting worse, sometimes it just dies for no reason then will come back on again but very erratic in nature, I have double checked every thing I can think of, even tried another rev counter just to make sure. I am using the Ford EDIS unit hooked up to the Microsquirt module, I have also tried to get my rev counter working from the EDIS unit with no luck, should I have something else on the rev counter wire from pin 35? whatever it is it does not effect the running of the engine

Update on this, bit of head scratching went on here, with no help from the www I decided to try the trial or error method, for anyone with the same problem as I had, use pin 2 on the EDIS used for diagnostics on the original Ford set up, but only works with modern electronic rev counters as I am using the original V6 rev counter from the 1999 Mondeo it was not a problem, job done
