Datsun a14

For engine experimenters, the MicroSquirt® PCB is offered in a module format with enhanced capabilities to be plugged into other boards. This is the place to discuss the MicroSquirt Module.

Datsun a14

Post by Paton »

Hi, I am thinking of running a v3 kit in my datsun 1200 running an a14, has anyone used the microsquirt for this application? I don't know much about injecting. How good are these systems? Do the kits come with programs for tuning on your computer? Any help would be appreciated.

The engine is a 4 cylinder, so you be running wasted spark with the stock MicroSquirt v3
Obviously you will need a suitable trigger wheel set up, and throttle body or injection rail plus a few sensors

They're great little boxes, but try reading the manuals, and a lot of questions you have will be answered.

No, but you need to wander over to efianalytics and check out TunerStudio, there is a lite version which is free, and the other "pro" version which is about $50.
There is also some logging software called MegaLogViewer from the same people that is pretty useful too, but this is all a little too much to take in at first. :)

PS Also slightly confusing there are two firmwares you can use with the v3, the one that is preloaded into the Microsquirt v3, which you can discuss in this forum, manual here and another which you can read about here
Take a look at the MicroSquirt "draft manuals" there, as they will give you an idea of how much you will have to learn, and whether it is for you.

IMO, your biggest challenge is your knowledge levels at the moment, and the fact you have somebody close by that can help out, even though they sell a different package, is much more relevant to you getting a successful injection project off the ground. Personally, I'd go local this time, and when you've gained more knowledge & expertise, you might want to revisit the MicroSquirts for another project.

Good luck :)
