Alternative to TachRef

Hi to our gurus, or more knowledgeable souls.
Is there some reason why the B&G firmware cannot send tooth logging information without using TachRef? I don't mean to be rude or such, but why can't the B&G firmware give tooth status info like MSExtra does through the TunerStudio tooth logging tab?
I think that a lot of the issues newcomers have is down to triggering variances, and being able to express the trigger wheel state in a clear fashion without having to load alternative firmware would be beneficial.
