Triggering off cam

I have recently installed and setup an MS v3 with the latest firmware. (3.84?)
I tried triggering off the coil neg but it didn't read the signal.
I have bought a 36-1 wheel and it would be much simpler to set up on the cam pulley instead of the crank.
Is this possible?
I understand this is running at half speed of the crank.

This is for a fuel only install and spark is not required.

One thing I was thinking was to take off another tooth, 180 degrees from the other.
Then I could say it was an 18 tooth wheel with skip teeth set to 9.
This should give me a signal every time it was at TDC and RPM's etc would read correctly.

Am I right along this train of thought?

Hi ozzie

If you go to the manual page then you will see option 4 under the Dual Spark Set Up, which is a missing tooth (M-N) for a cam only set up, as in NO crank trigger.
Enjoy :)
Mike
PS I've used it!
