Correct EDIS wiring

I am a newbie. I have installed Microsquirt V3 on my Ford 351W with EDIS. I am confused as to the correct wiring to connect the PIP and SAW wiring to the Microsquirt. I have found two different ways in the documents. See attached pics.
One says the following, To install EDIS with your MicroSquirt® controller, you connect:
Ampseal pin #12 to the SAW pin (#3) on the ignition module
Ampseal OPTOIN+ pin #30 to the PIP pin (#1) on the ignition module
Ampseal OPTOIN- pin #31 to the same ground location as the EDIS module (pin #9 or pin #10 depending on the module used).
The other says to to connect to VR- to the PIP connection and leave VR+ unconnected. I currently setup my wiring the first way and I still just read the 10BTDC at all times with my timing light.
My Tuner Studio is set: Trigger offset = 0° (this will vary slightly, depending on the wheel/pickup configuration),
Ignition Input Capture to ''Rising Edge'
Cranking Trigger to 'Calculated',
Coil Charging Scheme to 'EDIS',
Spark Output to 'Going High (Inverted)'.
Trigger Wheel Teeth to '0' (zero)
What am I missing.
