VR sensor and coil-on-plug question

Hi everybody, I'm new to Microsquirt and even newer on the forum. I tried to search and read the manual before, but did not find the answers I needed.

I've been in the engine business many years, but more in the mechanical and stock electrical Side, and never installed a Microsquirt before. Now I'm about till install a Microsquirt v3 on a 60degree twin cylinder motorcycle engine. The stock distrubutor is a VR sensor. As we all know, this gives an AC voltage. In the manual I red that this needed to be transformed into a square and positive curve by a ignition module. My question is if this transformation is done by the microsquirt itself or if I need a additional ignition module to make the MS Accept the signals? In Short, can I connect the VR sensor with AC voltage directlly into the VR+/- cables in the MS?

Next question; this engine has coil-on-plug coils with a 4-pol connector. I never worked with such things before, only regular primary/secondary coils and spark plug caps. I red in the manual about LS1/LS2 coils and all this. But it was written that I need to find out if the coil has a ingiter, which dwell that is appropriate and off course, which pin is which.

I have absolutely no documentation of this engine, and no knowleague about coil-on-plug. So this question might be very stupid. Can I somehow measure or find out if my coils has a igniter? Or does all coil-on-plug have a igniter? Can I somehow measure or find out which pin on the coil that is which, preferably without hooking up or tearing up the stock ignition system again (measurements on the 4 pins of the coil)?

About the dwell I found in the manual how to do if the dwell was unknown. :)

I hope someone with more experiance can answer My questions, or point me in the right direction. :)

Thanks guys!

Yes, that's exactly what the VR inputs do.

If the coil uses power, signal, and ground wires, it may be a logic level coil or require an external ignition driver. You can check this by applying power and ground to the appropriate wires. If you see 12 volts on the signal wires with the coil powered up, it is almost certainly one that requires an external ignition driver. If you have zero volts on the signal wire, it is a logic level coil.
