Re: LS2 coil settings with microsquirt

It's a V2.0 unit. The 2 jumpers (JP5 & JP6) are from pin 2 (center) to pin 3 (farthest from case). Is this correct to bypass the high current output drivers? Does the jumper position change the high/low setting?

Thanks,
Marty

LS2 coil settings with microsquirt

I have been racing a 1990 Mazda Miata for several years using a microsquirt V2 with a 18-1 crank wheel and the OEM ignition module and coils. I am trying to replace the OEM ignition module and coil pack with GM LS2 truck coils. The only setting in the Tuner Studio ignition settings that seemed to ...

AFR - ego problem with v3.780

Last September I upgraded from version 2.891 to version 3.780. Since then the AFR1 and egoV1 values don't change. The log shows egoV1 staying at a constant 1.00 and afr1 at .823 lambda. I noticed that the egoV2 value shows the voltage I would expect from the LC-1 for my running AFR. Did I do ...

Re: Version 2.891 to 3.78 upgrade problem

Just reloaded 3.78 and the 3.78 msq from yesterday. Went into Ignition Set-Up, Base ignition settings, and set trigger offset to 280 (from 0). Car started up and seems to run as well as 2.891 did.

Thanks for the help!

Re: Version 2.891 to 3.78 upgrade problem

I did try turning auto trigger off but then I had no trigger signal at all. I am new to TS and didn't know about the File, Properties setting. I was changing it under the Ignition set-up tab. I 'assumed' that TS would take the working trigger settings from my 2.891 msq.

Thanks for the quick reply ...

Version 2.891 to 3.78 upgrade problem

We have been racing a Mazda Miata using a Microsquirt v2 with B&G version 2.891 code. Since the fix for most new problems is to upgrade to version 3.78 code, we decided to upgrade. We installed Tuner Studio version 2.06, connected it to the microsquirt and saved the .msq. We then loaded version 3.78 ...

Re: Opto 1-Max Practical Tooth Count

Wes - there is some filtering on the Opto side that may phase shift high tooth count. There is that 0.2uf cap in the circuit that provides a lot of filtering for ignition coil ringing, but can cause delay for high tooth count/high RPMs.

Is this for Microsquirt module? If so then you may be OK, the ...

Re: Question about wiring Variable Reluctor (VR)...

Both the VRIN1+/- pair of wires and the OPTOIN+/- pair of wires feed preamp circuits. The outputs of the 2 separate preamp circuits go to a single CPU processor pin so you want to use only one pair of inputs. Since you are using a VR sensor you should use the VRIN1+/- pair and leave the OPTOIN ...

Re: Unable to load current code.

The line

ERROR: Reading C:/Program Files/MegaSquirt/Firmware/MS-II/Monitor_v2.890.abs.s19 line 666: Invalid checksum, found 0x1c, expected 0xb2.

means that record 666 in the Monitor_V2.890.abs.s19 file is invalid. Record 666 in my 2.890 file has a 0x1c checksum and loads without error so I think ...

Re: More questions on hall effect sensor.

My hall sensor is a 12 volt unit. Matt Cramer at DIYAutoTune suggested I wire the opto+ to +12 through a 470 ohm resistor and opto- directly to the trigger wire. I used a 1k ohm (didn't have a 470) and I am getting a crank signal.
