The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.

Im contemplating a megasquirt on my 1998 ZX9R, would prefer to keep the stock carbs to make things cheaper and easier. they are Keihin 40mm CV carbs with a TPS as stock (for ignition adjustments with the stock CDI) which makes it even more attractive - assuming a megasquirt can tap into the stock TPS while its still connected to the CDI (id rather this be a fuel only setup, stock ignition setup works very well)
i was thinking of either removing the slides, fixing them in the fully up position (for a smoother air way) or just leaving them in place (EFI yamaha R1's use vacuum pistons for nicer throttle response) and sealing up the fuel inlet and float bowl vent pipes
anybody ever try anything along these lines on a motorcycle? and if so how successful was it?
can't say I have any personal experience with this type of conversion, but I honestly don't see how it could possible be cheaper. You can find ITB sets on ebay all day long for $100. You can't even get a set of used injectors for that....not through normal channels anyway. And that gets you the TPS sensor, the injectors, the fuel rail and the FPR.
wow didnt realise how many throttle bodies are for sale on ebay
still id like to keep the stock airbox (why destroy a perfectly good OEM ram air system) and velocity stacks.... so i might have a challenge ahead of me!
my carbs are 40mm items... me thinks the CBR954RR items might be the go
