MSII to GM 2.4 twin cam DIS system interface

Post by Peter Florance »

Trying to help a user interface from this DIS system (single connector, 11 pins) to MSII
1996-2000 Cavalier is typical example.

All MSII docs I've found relate to 2-connector DIS systems.
Anyone familiar with this setup? We can't seem to get any RPM signal of any type.
I suspect it has to do with ref lo output, but not sure.

Thanks!

is that an ecotec engine? I think a guy named WOPontour did some work with that, maybe look up some of his old threads?

you need a pre 95 DIS unit to work with MSII. The older units could read the crank position signal directly so only a simple connection was needed. The newer units don't read the crank the ECU must decode that plus they have two spark channels which at this point the MS can't do. This isn't far off though once the GPIO board is done.

Will a 95 ICM work with an OBD-2 system from a 02 Cavalier with 2.4 twin cam engine. (2.3 Quad 4 is the predescor to the 2.4).
