Fast idle valve suggestions?

Has anybody got any specific suggestions for suitable fast idle solenoid valves that are readily availiable, either aftemarket (replacement) or from the junk yard?

Been looking on e-bay, but it is often very difficult to tell wheter it's a solenoid or motor operated valve...

I used a two wire idle solenoid that was fitted to an audi 90.(Bosch i think), these are supposed to require a PWM voltage to control the idle. I just fitted a 6ohm resistor in series with it and it just works as simple on/off solenoid. I would think you could use any two wire idle solenoid like this.

ebay uk has quite a few of them; they are made by VDO.

You must put a resistor in series with it, otherwise it will burn out an a few minutes. i used a 6 or 8 Ohm, wire-wound resistor.

i only paid a Â£5 for mine!!

As I said, they are designed to be fed via a pulse width modulation
signal (PWM) so the more current that goes through them the futher they
open. We just want simple on/off so a simple inline resistor deals with
that.

I had to reduce the inlet hole to about 8mm diameter to get the desired
level of rpm increase when the valve was open, I just pushed some
smaller rubber hose inside it.

One of the variants of Megasquirt can drive these properly, as (I THINK)
will next version of megasquirt.

Ah.. I see. not only is there motor valves, but allso PWM controlled solenoids!

I thiught that the motor valves were the only ones that could be controlled, whilst the solenoids were either on or of.

But if using one of these units with a resistor works for you, then it should work for me!

I've allso been thinking abou regulating the air to obtain the right level of idle RPM.... Think I'll see if I can find a valve so I can fine adjust there and then.

the code!
