Secondary coil output

Post by Ulmenkott »

Hi Forum.
Just about ready to test run my project but wondering if it would be OK to drive a relay from the secondary coil driver for a coolant fan.
Seems to me it would be like any other current sinking driver, but wanted to ask first since it would work much longer cycles this way.

Engine is a 2 cylinder parallel running wasted spark so i dont have any use for this output.

While the hardware can do this, the code currently does not support this option. ALED and WLED can be used to drive relays directly.

Great, then ill use one of them instead.
Do they need a flyback diode over the relay coil for protection or is that built into the driver?
Relay would be an ordinary "bosch type" car relay.

They can drive a relay directly; it's the same circuit as in the fuel pump.
