2.886 code

Post by 2whldreams »

I thought it would be advantageous to upgrade from V2 2.886 (ran well) to MS2extra 3.2.5.

In retrospect, 3.2.5 may be more code than I need for a simple fuel only/wasted spark conversion on a 1982 GS1100 motorcycle conversion.

I can't seem to find info on the V2 2.886 code.

Info in the Microsquirt V1/V2 manual embedded code defaults to either a

v2.920.abs.s19 (distributors)

or

v3.830a.abs.s19 (crankshaft toothed wheels)

Which of the two codes would compliment a wasted spark/fuel only conversion?

Thank you for your time

The 2.920 code is closer to what you have and the initial design for this series was for for engines without trigger wheels. While trigger wheels were added, the design is not as efficient as the 3.x series, which was designed for full sequential engines.

Since you are upgrading, and intend to use fuel only/ wasted spark you should be fine with 2.920. This has new features and updates from 2.886, but is not so different and complicated that it will confuse you. However, if you intend to eventually go to sequential, then you might want to consider starting with 3.830a. This code should still work with your setup and when you do upgrade, there will be much less of a problem.
