The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.

I've got a sequencer, and am not getting any sort of starting success, not even a cough. I tried some starting fluid, and after some cranking got a cough and a backfire out of the throttle body. An inductive timing light flashes as I crank, it's really hard to see the timing numbers while cranking, but I think I'm around 20 degrees. I'm using a 36-1 wheel with and a distributor-mounted cam sync tooth. I've double-checked the teeth between the crank sensor and tooth 1, and the cam tooth. I'm not sure where I should start with the injector pulsewidth for cranking with this setup. The engine is 416CI V-8, and I the injectors are 39lb/hr (8 injectors). The default was something like 11ms at -40F and 3ms at 160F. I adjusted these from 1.5ms up to 13ms, but nothing happened. I'm wondering where a good place to start is for this. I'll also keep trying to get a better look at the timing, but if it is about 20 degrees, it should start fine as that is close to where I ran before the MS conversion. I attached an msq and log also.
OK, I found that it works much better when I put a fuse in the fuel injector fuse holder. Before that, though, I spent more time with the timing light and found my crank offset was about 20 degrees too advanced. It was probably good to figure that out before injecting fuel. After putting a fuse in place, I got it to fire up, but it is rough. It looks like my O2 sensor isn't working, and there are probably some other issues, but now that I know it fires up I should be able to work through them.
