Connecting MS V3 to TunerStudio MS?!
Really basic I'm sure, but I can't connect my Microsquirt V3 to TunerStudio. I'm using a USB-Serial adaptor and have been through loads of port COM settings. Do I actually have to try 1-99 (or more)? What should I be doing or looking for when I test each one? Have the car running or just ignition on?
Also, what baud rate should be used for the V3 - I've read 9600 for Mega1 and 115200 for Mega2; how does that correspond to MicroS V3?
The situation is, we've bought a drag/street car with a MS V3 ECU and want to get in to have a look how its running. We don't have the original firmware etc. used to initially set it up.
Any advice would be much appreciated,
Thanks,
Khal

The MicroSquirt will need to be powered, but engine doesn't need to be running.
TunerStudio will search all the ports for you when you click detect. If that isn't working, then I guess you need to to do a bit more digging.
The 1st thing I would check is that the drivers for your USB to serial cable are installed. Look in Windows Device Manager, see if there is anything with a yellow exclamation point. If that is good, check under ports.
Do you know what chipset is in your cable? FTDI is recommended and if it is an FTDI based cable, it doesn't need drivers as TunerStudio has them built in.

The drivers seemed fine and I was using the right baud rate.
I'm unsure of the chip in the cable. It was this one from Amazon. Is it most likely the cable? I'll order an FTDI compatible one.

Re: Connecting MS V3 to TunerStudio MS?!
I'm a complete novice at this and so would appreciate your thoughts. We have a Ford 302 racing engine, which is supercharged. It's running rich - the air fuel ratio is ~10. How do I change this using TunerStudio? Is there a good place for a novice to learn about all the necessary steps?
Thanks again!

Then check out the manual, it has a lot info on tuning.
