Should I let MSII handle both ignition & fuel at first t
I'm replacing the Motronic 4.1 that was in my car. This ECU also controls ignition.
I initially intended for the MS in another car. But since I'm about to squirt the car above (with Motronic at the moment) instead - I'm about to buy the MS-II daughter card to be able to control ignition as well.
Question:
Should I when I first start the car with MS and tune, let the original ECU control ignition ? Or could I start it first time with also letting MSII control ignition ?
I was thinking that if the engine doesn't start I wouldn't know if it is because of fuel or ignition it isn't running. Or is this not a problem?

Funny you should ask - a friend of mine suggested the design similarities not long ago.
It's a Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato - about 450 built I think.
But I'm not squirt'ing that. It will recieve Jolt Lite junior later on. It's got a bit wilder cams and so - so it needs some adjustment to ignigtion as well.
The car I'm squirting is a Alfa Romeo 33 SW Q4 - 93.
The car I originaly intended MS for is a GTV6 3.0 -84. But I bought a LINK-system for it instead. It handles ignition too.
Thanks for the advice!
Then I'll just start with MS and fuel - and when I get my MS-II card, I'll hopefully be done with fuel and can start on ignition.
You know you don't need the MSII CPU to do ignition just the use the "extra" code for the MSI CPU.Patriq Backlund wrote: Then I'll just start with MS and fuel - and when I get my MS-II card, I'll hopefully be done with fuel and can start on ignition.

Thanks for the input. I know I can use the MS-I for ignition - but I also want the AIC-control in MS-II since it's also on the car I'm about to squirt.
And since I'm going to start with fuel before adding spark as well - I thought I'd might just start with MS-I for fuel and continue with spark when I get MS-II.

Patriq, that is how I did my car -- I got it running fuel only on MS-I first. If you have the option of doing fuel-only and letting the stock ECU run the ignition, you might have an easier time.Patriq Backlund wrote:Graham !
