Coilpack with wasted spark with NO EDIS ?

Is it possible to add an additionnal VB921 driver on an MS2 with v3 to run two direct coil trigger?

That way, I could run a coilpack directly on my 4cylinder, without an EDIS module.

If it's possible to add one, how hard it is ? Also, is the software able to run it ?

On another side, is it possible to drive a coilpack with only one VB921 driver and run in triple wasted spark ? Like by tapping the two trigger line on the coil with the coil driver from the v3 ?

Thanks in advance!

Ok well after much more research, I know now that MS2 support only 1 direct ignition coil.

So here's a few possibilities that I could use:

1: Use an EDIS module with a coilpack in a wasted sparks configuration.
2: Use my stock distributer (I'd prefer switching to coilpacks for reliability issues and simplicity)
3:Use MSnSE, and add a second coil driver like this :
http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup-neon.html
He's using IGN and IAC2B (DB37 pin36 and 31) output pin to drive the two coils triggers (have to modify the v3 board a bit).

4: Add a secondary coil driver like above, use MS2, and hope for a code implementation of it! I wonder how hard implementing this would be on the MS2? This would be great since there won't be any need for an ignition module at all and no more distributor.

If there's no way to add a second coil driver on v3 board with ms2 and use it properly, I'll use the EDIS solution, it's not that bad anyway!

There isn't code yet for MS2 to drive two or more coils, but it is on the wishlist.

Nice, hope to see that day come. Meanwhile I'll just get an EDIS module then.

By talking about a wishlist for MS2, is there a place we could see that list?

I'd be curious what are the future plan for MS2 code!

I'm a programmer myself (I know assembly, C, C++, VB, and a few more) but I'm pretty much learning on how the electronics works on car. I have learned a lot but there's so more to learn still..

Anyway I may give a try on reading the code, and see if there's a way I could help. Is anyone welcomed to add a bit of code, and send it to Grippo to possibly add it for the next release?

Ah just found that there's a high tech topic section in the forum for MS2 at http://www.msefi.com/viewforum.php?f=78

Yay ! more readings :RTFM: :RTFM: :RTFM:

torn81 im sure they would accept some code from somone.. if your qualified to do so.. im waiting on the 420a code for the V2.. i purchased a megasquirt.. and now come to realize they dont have code for my car to control ignition timeing. i have to go the EDIS4 trigger wheel rout or wait for the code to come out.. so im stuck for a bit.. if you could help it out there too that would be awesome.. i wonder how long it takes to create something like that?
