My dizzy has an optical pick up. Photoetched disc - with 360 'slots'.
Would this be too much for megasquirt?

I use the four inner slots on my Sentra (B11 w/ E16). I had to use a 12V pullup to get a tach signal. I've heard that a 5V pullup will also work.

I was also able to use the 4 inner slots on my optical sensor - KA24de 240sx, I was piggy backing the stock ecu for fuel control, and spliced into the signal wire, (white wire) and that provided a great trigger signal, But once I went full standalone, and hooked the wire directly to the MS ecu no rpm/trigger signal...
I guess I need a pull up resistor. I must say, great timing on this thread becuase I have been brain storming for the last 3 hours trying to figure out why I dont have a rpm signal!!! I can sleep easy now. I don't have an osciliscope, so my diagnostic capabilty is limited.
Thank you very much!
P.S. Maybe we should add the pull up resistor info/recomendation for Nissan optical sensors, in the MS II optical trigger section. In the hall sensor section, A pull up resistor is sometimes recomended...

that sounds complicated to me.
But the basics are, it will work, but you need a pull up resistor (i take it this increases the signal to MegaSquirt) so that megasquirt can realise what rpm the car is doing.
So by doing this you omit the need for a crank angle sensor?
Electronics aren't my cup of tea.

I just used a 1K resistor and connected it to 12V and then to opto in. Otherwise, my input is identical to the Hall Sensor method described in step 50.
