Sequencer Question

Post by wmahaffey »

I have two applications for which I would like to use Sequencer. I will be using COP in each application, one eight cylinder and one four cylinder. Neither set of coils have igniters. Will I have to use something like the Bosch BIP373 coil driver or are these coil drivers a part of the Sequencer hardware?

regards,

Bill

There aren't any ignition drivers on the sequencer, so yes you will have to use the Bosch or equivalent drivers.

I believe this might be helpful.

http://www.glensgarage.com/catalog/igni ... p-101.html

Basically this board will allow you to take the logic level output from the Sequencer (in your case the four logic level outputs) mount the four BIP373 to the board and then run the outputs to your COPs. The board has a spot for the wire in from the Sequencer, a place for an appropriate sized resistor, and a place to mount the BIP373 (remember the BIP373 requires an insulator between it and the heat sink.)

I have not personally tried to do this (I am 99% sure this is what I am going to have to do in my application), so do your due diligence (i.e. homework) and make sure it is right for your application.
