1977 goldwing possible conversion

Hello there, first off if I have placed this in the wrong place I am sorry and please move it. now... I have a 1977 goldwing that is, as I am learning a sort of franken bike. I have carbs from an 81 goldwing 1100, aftermarket ignition, and many scary attempts at repairs from the previous owner. My carbs are starting to leak and I do not feel it is safe to ride until I fix them. that's just it though... to rebuild those carbs my self it would cost about $250 and many many hours of time, if I had a mechanic fix them it would take $250 for parts and many hours of his time (at $80 an hour that's not cheap). so here's my dilemma and questions. if I convert it to efi it would be far more reliable and rider friendly, the initial cost would be higher but I imagine that fuel economy would also increase so that would balance out over time, and thirdly I'd have modern technology instead of cutting edge from 1981. In my mind this is a no brainer but I do have some questions about installation and such.
1) for the ignition can I just leave the factory ignition for now and pickup the signal from one of the negatives on the coils (2 coils on this bike)?
2) I can use tps sensor from Suzuki right? I don't have to fuss with trying to adapt a gm tps I hope?
3) what is the electrical draw with microsquirt. the early goldwings were not known for having a particularly strong electrical system.
thanks,
Steve
