Kawasaki ZX6R with MicroSquirt and QuadSpark - Hall Sensor

Hello All,

I am currently trying to tune a 2009 Kawasaki ZX6R running on E85 with a 19mm restrictor and I am having sync problems. My setup is MicroSquirt with Quad Spark. There were problems with the VR sensor that was on the engine so we switched to a 3 wire Honeywell LCZ260 Hall Sensor that is being used with a 24-2 trigger wheel. We took the VR sensor and drilled it out to fit the hall sensor in so that it is properly mounted in the engine. The engine started up and ran but when I was looking at TunerStudio it would be synced then when you are up in the 6-7 rpm range, it would go out of sync for half a second and go back to synced. Now we are currently having problems even starting it and making it run.

I HAD the Hall Sensor wired up as this:

Red - Switched Power
Black - Straight to Ground
White (Signal Output) - It is currently wired to the VR-1 wire (Red and Black wires in a Gray sleeve) Pin 32.
Distance between tip of hall sensor and trigger wheel: 0.008 inch (is there a certain operation gap for a hall sensor?)

The above setup was when the hall sensor would cut in and out at around 6-7k rpms.

NOW we are having problems having the engine even firing up. I called DIYAutotune and Matt told me to wire the hall sensor like so:

Red - Vref 5vand OptoIn+
Black - Sensor Ground (wire that comes from MS)
White - OptoIn-

Looked at the data tooth logger and its not good. Not seeing the 22 teeth and the single triple length line. I have attached the tooth logger excel sheet.

So I switched the red wire to the switched 12V and its still not wanting to fire up...

I am running out of ideas and time since this is actually going into an FSAE car and the competition is in a couple weeks. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Got your PMs, and looking for your posts now, and seen this one. The half a second is the clue, I think you are getting resets. Like I said in the PM, under the Datalogging tab in TunerStudio there is an option to Start Logging. Log the engine either side of your problem area, then look at various parameters, like Trigger±?, RPM, Time etc for a few pointers. Better still post the log up and others will look at it for you.

I'm running an 09 zx6r on a microsquirt in wasted spark mode using the stock sensor. I had to put a resistor (about 100k) in series with the vr1+ wire. I run it to 16k rpm and never lose sink. If this setup helps you pm me and i can send you my tune.

What were the symtoms to make you add the resistor/ When I had my ZXR on the dyno she wouldn't rev past 9500 (redline is11000) it was like a rev limiter kicking in and I'm wondering if this would help.

It would only rev to about 8k. It would show a sync loss at that point. Running the stock firmware it would actually rev higher but msextra would lose sync consistently at about 8k. I tried several resistors and found around 100k worked best for me on the + lead
