Toyota 3tc setup
I am trying to setup my wiring for the ignition part of my conversion but I need a little help where as I don't want to damage my brand new microsquirt v3.
Let me give you a run down on how my ignition system is now. I installed a hot spark electronic ignition conversion kit '3ND4U1' (http://www.hot-spark.com/Installing-Hot ... ndenso.pdf) in my distributor and wanted to know how can I setup my ignition?
1. Variable Reluctor pickup
2. Hall Effect
or
3. Kettering Triggers (points)
Although for some reason I think it is the Hall Effect but your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Re: Toyota 3tc setup
Quick look at the pdf suggests the red wire powers up the Hot Sparks module, and the black wire switches the coil on and off. The black wire is your trigger for the MicroSquirt v3, and it should make a ground, so I'm guessing you need a pull up resistor to make it work (electronics isn't my thing), but be aware you need to lock out the advance if you want this trigger to stay in the same position as the RPMs rise.
I'm assuming you are using this as a trigger interface, but to drive the coil you'll need to use an ignition module/amplifier as the v3 cannot do this by itself. So maybe you'll be getting a new coil pack or 4 COPs and drive them in wasted spark mode??
Not enough info really, have you read the docs or seen the links on this forum?
Mike
PS Technically the Hot Sparks behaves like a set of points aka Kettering, so check the docs out for this bit at the bottom of the page.
