Post by neil tuckey »

I have installed a microsquirt in a westfield and I cant get tuner studio to detect the ecu,i have 2 other vehicles running megasquirts and I can connect to them without problems I have tried a computer with a serial port to eliminate the serial to usb adapter and still wont detect I have set the baud to115200 and tried all the things recommended with no joy.is there a way to find out if the ecu has got a code or firmware on it or any other suggestions please, thanks neil

Neil,

portCheck.exe will poll all the comm ports on your computer for any MegaSquirt/MicroSquirts that might be connected, and report the code version of any MS devices it finds. So try that:

http://www.megamanual.com/files/software/portCheck.zip

There are more comm port tips here:

thanks for the reply lance, have tried portcheck and still cant detect ecu I have spoken to the supplier of the ecu and they say all ecus are checked before they send them out and it definetly has a code on it ,they advised just connecting power and earth to the ecu and trying that as it could be a wireing fault so I have cut all the wires off apart from the positive and two earths and still the same result.on the same vehicle there is a innovate lc2 and I can connect to that via the innovate db9 connector without any problem can I then assume that the serial to usb adapter and port settings are correct and should connect to the microsquirt (both use 115200)or could the problem still be in a setting fault on the computer thanks again neil

Neil,

I could be a lot of things causing your issue, but you appear to have eliminated the most common ones.

If this was mine, I would re-boot the computer and immediately try portCheck.exe before connecting to the LC-1 in case something in it's software is causing the serial port to hang).

I would also make 100% sure that the bootloader wire is not grounded (pin 15) as this will put the controller in code loading mode, and it won't respond to portCheck or TunerStudio.

What code has the vendor loaded on the microsquirt? You might try setting up a TunerStudio project for that code and connecting (the details will depend on what code was loaded). Or you could load new code in case has been corrupted at some point (see: http://www.useasydocs.com/details/usv3code.htm ).

If none of that helps, I would ask the vendor for a replacement or a refund.
