E30 325e Microsquirt build

Post by joecrotch »

Hey guys, So after a lot of reading(seriously, a lot of reading lol) I have finally placed my last order @ DIYAutotune.com and am ready to button up my motor and start wiring. I have just a few questions. Please excuse my newb questions. I am really excited to get started on this learning experience.

So when I am grounding things, for example the MAP. Do I ground the MAP to a body ground then the sensor ground wire to that same location? Or do I just splice the MAP ground into the sensor ground and let the Microsquirt handle the grounding. I am having difficulty understanding how the whole grounding using the sensor ground works.

Also I am attempting to run a inline 6 M20 bmw motor on Microsquirt. Just before I ordered the Microsquirt I had found documentation that Microsquirt can run a 6 cylinder with EDIS6. So I purchased the EDIS6 and the Microsquirt. Just after that purchase my laptop crashed and I am now on a new PC. So all my bookmarks are gone. Can anyone point me to the docs to wire up EDIS6 and Microsquirt.

Last question I swear. If you stuck around this long then thank you :)

I remember when I first started looking into MS years ago there was a LCD display called Megaview. Is this no longer a thing? anyone have any suggestions for a DIY racedash or at least a small LCD display to show important MS info while driving.

Thanks so much and I really hope to add to the community after my mandatory learning curve time.

Sensor ground wires should ONLY be run from the sensor to the MicroSquirt, nowhere else. Grounding them externally will create noise.

For the EDIS wiring diagrams, let me know what firmware you're on, and I'll link you to the correct documentation.

We had demand for MegaViews pretty much dry up with the rise of Android tablet tuning apps. You could buy a complete Android device, Bluetooth adapter, and the software for less than what an unassembled MegaView sells for.
