The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
This forum is for discussion of MicroSquirt (TM) from Bowling and Grippo. The MicroSquirt information site is at www.usEasyDocs.com

I am hoping all you clever people can help me out. The engine I am in the process of building. see pic. is based on the Aprilia RSV mille. I have converted it into a fore and aft 180 degree V twin. It would appear for the best results for the ignition and fuel injection that a microsquirt with the existing cam sensor and a 60-2 wheel would give me what I want. I can add a wheel to the back of the generator, but it would mean a different casting being made. I have read of one Aprilia Vtwin using the microsquirt on the forums, but as there are no 180 degree uneven engines I am starting from scratch. I was not sure how the one on the forum was triggered it seems he used existing triggers. Anyone who can put me right before I start manufacturing the wheel and the extra casting for the generator cover. Thanks, I should point out I have a rudimentary grasp of electronics and computer programing, so lay man speak would be nice. I will again point out this is not a boxer twin, but an uneven 180 degree V twin.Stupid is as stupid does before anyone asks.
From reading and reading it does appear that the latest microsquirt allows for uneven firing by using two sensors on the crank with just two lugs, I have looked at the diagrams but these I think would only work without fuel injection as the tach input signal would not be good enough. So assuming I am correct I would still need to add a 36-1 or 60-2 wheel somewhere to the crankshaft. Most all or nearly all of the installs using the trigger wheels sold, run outside the oil of the engine, and the few I have found who attempted to use standard trigger wheels inside the engine had trouble with reading correctly, is this because the trigger wheel would act as an oil mill throwing oil everywhere and maybe stopping the signal. If so would I be better mounting a small wheel outside the engine under its own cover. I am thinking of just press fitting a wheel to the Generator flywheel but am concerned in the oil drag against the sensor. Also in the dual spark part of the manual it shows the use of a cam sensor, which I have. Can I use two crank sensors for the odd fire and the cam sensor so I am not running wasted spark.
