LPG and Petrol

Post by Cooke »

I have a car that runs on LPG (but uses petrol to start up with)

I want to know, could megasquirt be used to run both the petrol + ignition and the lpg + Ignition?

Yes it's quite possible .
Use msns-e , with patrol on table 1/3 and lpg on table 2 .
Use the table switching feature to switch between two fuels .
And you'll need an extra relay to cut power from inj bank two
when running on petrol .
I've been running this setup for over a year now .

Switching between fuels can be done "on the fly " without the engine even noticing it . No bumps , stalls ets c .

The only issue is that starting a cold engine on lpg is a problem , because megasuirt doesn't do lpg temp/pressure corrections .
But even in winter , I had to run the car on petrol for only a minute or two
before i could switch to lpg .

So it would be a case of starting on petrol and swapping over to lpg once warm.

How does megasquirt know which set of injectors to use?

The table switching feature in combination with the extra realy tells megasquirt to fire either bank one ( petrol ) or bank two ( lpg ) .
