won't start hot

Post by re-animator »

Hi Again!

My girlfriend and I just got back from about a mile-long drive, her driving, me tuning. When I park it and shut it off, it won't start. Like it's not getting gas. There's spark, there's air, but it won't fire up.

Any pointers?

by the way....now that I'm getting somewhere with it......this is so F---ING cool!

What version of MS/boards etc are you running.

ASE fixed my hot start problems for me.

I'm running MS1, v 2.2. What is ASE?

It will start after about an hour of sitting. It fires right up and runs like a champ. It's done this since I started it the first time. It seems heat related, like my priming pulse won't go if it's hot....I'm new at this, so forgive me if I've got it all wrong.

No, it's not flooded. It's like the thing doesn't get any gas. I don't hear the pump running, but it runs if I wait an hour or so.

Other than that, I'm ready to start using MSTweak and filling in the gaps. I figure by next weekend I'll have to take some photos for the "success stories" area.

How did you set your priming pulse? Is it fixed or changed wrt temp?

The priming pulse is 2.0 ms. I set up the constants, and that's what was there. I guess. I don't remember setting it beyond what the mega manual says.

I'm not sure what the deal is....

if your pump runs at the start when you turn the ignition on when its cold then it should do this when its hot too. I would guess you simply cant hear it as the lines are full of fuel and when its cold they are not. You need to play with the cranking pw, the easiest way to do it is crank it over when its hot (see in MT what the actual temp is) if you have to crack the throttle open a little to get it to fire then you have too much fuel PW set in the cranking PW page for that temperature. If it doesnt start then add a little fueluntill it does. The only fuel the MS adds during cranking is the Cranking PW, it doesnt look at the fuel map untill the engine has started so dont play with that as its not related,

Thanks, Phil! I'll try that tomorrow and I'll let everybody know it that does the trick.
