The TunerStudio UI is completely reconfigured for each firmware. So it is very important to use the manual that matches the firmware you are using.

If everything is rich, start with lowering the req fuel.

Then check out the manual, it has a lot info on tuning.

Based on that one not supporting Windows 10, I would hazard to guess it is using a clone of the prolific chipset. Prolific has made their drivers not compatible with the older chips to kill off the imitation clones.

A MicroSquirt is MS2 based, so 115200 baud.

The MicroSquirt will need to be powered, but engine doesn't need to be running.

TunerStudio will search all the ports for you when you click detect. If that isn't working, then I guess you need to to do a bit more digging.

You must have Extra firmware or and MS3 for tooth logging.

It is flawed by design...
RS232 is supposed to go + and - in volts, to achieve this you need to shift a + volt down. They did not do this in their design, so it can work against some devices, but will not work with a MicroSquirt.
As said, it is a piece of garbage.

What kind of adapter is it? Do you know what chipset it uses?

Most are either FTDI or Prolific, both work fine...
However a couple things to watch for... On Windows 10, Prolific stopped supporting all their older chipsets as there were too many chinese knock-offs.

It does, it doesn't support D2XX, but I assure you it does work with a USB to serial cable.

D2XX is not RS232.

TunerStudio MS Lite lets you use a usb to rs232 adapter.
It sounds like you haven't installed the drivers for it.

I assume you are speaking of Shadow Dash, that is only for display and data logging.
It can load and save msq files, but does not have a tuning ui.
